The Hypokinesia of IVS and basal and mid interior wall and LV apex, basically implies that you have a segment of heart which does not have as much strength (read contractility) as the other segments of your heart. Now the question arises why should one segment have less strength than the other segments? The most common reason for this regional abnormality is lack of proper nutrition to the segment which is hyperkinetic. The channels for carrying nutrition to all parts of the heart are the blood vessels - and when they get blocked- we call it a heart attack. Sometimes heart attacks are not as dramatic as they show in movies or tell you in talks! They can do their job silently by slowly and slowly blocking the passages. Your echo shows just this! You have regional wall motion abnormality (RWMA) which indicates previous heart attack!

By your Echo report looks like there is some blockage, in view of your symptoms, smoking history and this Echo, my advice is get a Coronary angiography done as soon as possible. That is the only way to rule out blockage.

Dear Lybrateuser, - You have to stop smoking as it has led to some changes in heart function - take dietary precautions & do regular exercise, also reduce stress - the pain could be an anginal pain which is a momentary pain which goes away after a short time -also you need to reduce your cholesterol level by diet & regular exercise which will also improve the heart function - monitor BP regularly especially after exercise, consult a cardiologist.

So, it was not heart attack. But,If you continue smoking it could possibly be. STOP SMOKING. Take less fat, less sugar, low salt, high fibres diet. You heart is pumping less amount of blood, which could potentially cause myocardial infarction. Visit Cardiologist as soon as possible.
