But there is no hard and fast rule. Each one of us has to understand our body rhythm and know by trial and error how many hours of sleep keeps us fit. However for a perfect sleep refrain from beverages like caffeine and fluctuating sleep timings as it will develop feelings of moodiness and your inability to concentrate on your studies.

Dear Lybrate user. I can understand. If you study more than 8 hours on a given day and continue it for many days, you will be stressed to the extent. Whatever competitive you are going to attend, you are given wrong directives. No one studies for 16 hours on a day. Body and brain needs rest and it should be atleast 10 hours a day. Body needs exercise, mind needs entertainment and leisure activities. Provide these to body and mind. Rest of the time you can study. Without any diet, you will be a success. Take care.

Avoid tea and coffee. Yes caffeine will wake you up and give you a buzz right away .But once the effect wears off; you will feel even more tired and sleepy than you were before. This happens because these drinks dehydrate you. ?Have a balanced diet: Eat a heavy and healthy breakfast but have a light dinner. If you feel hungry at night, eat fruits, dry fruits, and salads only. Avoid junk food. ?Take a 20-30 minute nap during the day. This shall help you to concentrate better. ?As you study, whenever you feel tired or sleepy or even stressed, take a minute to practice yoga- breathing exercises. Concentrating on your breath can help bring more oxygen to the brain which will in turn wake the body up and help clear your mind to study better. All the best! :)
