I am diabetic 26 years old. 9 months ago my hba1c 7.9 comes. After that I control diet snd do regular exercise .taking metformin now hba1c is 4.9.wat my hba1c suggests how percent my pancreas is dead?

HbA1C or glycosylated Hemoglobin as we know it - is the percentage of Hemoglobin which is saturated with attachment of glucose in the blood. Which means that if somebody has high blood sugar for a long time then he will also have high HbA1C. The value of HbA1C is not affected by day-to-day excursions of glucose and is fairly a good estimate of long time sugar values for the past 3 months in any patient - making this test a valuable tool to estimate the sugar control of the patient. Since your HbA1C is now 4.9% - it indicates an excellent sugar control and now your doctor can decide on reducing your sugar medicines. HbA1C has nothing to do with the estimation of preservation of pancreatic function.
