I aged 60 and my wife aged 52 are on border line for diabetes. Doctor suggested exercise. And to avoid rice, sugar, potatoes and gur. Can we not eat these items any how or is it allowed in a separate mannry Thanks.

You DON'T need to avoid rice and potatoes altogether. But avoid sugar & gur completely, until you lose weight and blood sugars are well controlled.
