I have consulted dental hospital for closing of gaps in upper teeth, they suggested bonding material over braces is it good option? Does it lasts long?

It may be a good option depending on the extent of spaces that need to be closed. The first option that would yield good results is of course orthodontic treatment or braces in your case. But you can go for bonding or composites keeping in mind that the material may wear off and discolor later on after few years depending on how well the procedure has been executed.

The choice of braces v/s bonding should be a conscious choice based on the amount of correction needed and the time and cost involved in both the treatment options. The choice also depends on the condition of your teeth and gum health. At the age of 22 it would be best to explore the option of braces because you would not end up with any artificial fixture in your mouth if the gaps are closed by moving your teeth closer to each ou\ther.

Both treatment modalities have pros and cons. Bonding treatment does last well and can be done almost in one day whereas braces take some time.

Hi closure of gaps by braces will obviously last longer as the natural teeth are moved to close space. But it will take more sittings as compared to bonding material which is usually a single sitting procedure. Thanks.

Hello Lybrate user, at the age of 22, it would be best to undergo orthodontic treatment for closure of spaces, where teeth will be moved slowly over a period of time within the bone, with the help of braces and the results are permanent with proper planned retention. On the contrary the bonding material may get discolored over a period of time and also chip off if not taken care properly. Though it may be a faster option it may not last long. You need to visit an Orthodontist for further details.
