Dear Mr. lybrate-user, such pain in lower abdominal which has become worst to affect your sexual life, may be caused by endometriosis. To diagnose it will Need laparoscopy but if you want to post pone for a while, let your wife start with contraceptive pill as hormonal treatment without break for two to three months and if her pain disappear it is more diagnostic of endometriosis. Please rule out pelvic infection by doing the swab from vagina and cervix before jumping on laparoscopy.
