A simple blood test can reveal whether your triglycerides fall into a healthy range. Normal — Less than 150 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL), or less than 1.7 millimoles per liter (mmol/L) Borderline high — 150 to 199 mg/dL (1.8 to 2.2 mmol/L) High — 200 to 499 mg/dL (2.3 to 5.6 mmol/L). Very high - 500 mg/dL or higher. Are you overweight? Check out our BMI calculator to find out if your weight falls within the healthy range. If you are overweight, do try to make a conscious effort to reduce your daily calorie intake (from all sources of calories, fats, proteins, carbohydrates and alcohol). Choose lots of fresh fruits, and vegetables, smaller amounts of wholegrain cereals, lean proteins, and low-fat dairy products. And, try to get at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity on five or more days each week. Remember, regular exercise can help boost your HDL (good) cholesterol levels, and losing those excess pounds can help lower triglycerides.

Thank you for the query. Your TG levels are 275 mg%. Usually it should be below 150 mg%. However, you needn't take medications for TG right now. Initially, I would advise you some dietary modifications like - avoidance of refined carbohydrates, carbonated beverages and saturated fat (ghee, butter etc) in diet. Avoid alcohol as that may lead to hypertriglyceridemia. Apart from that, develop a exercise regime of 30 min per day for 4-5 days a week. Recheck your TG levels after 6-8 weeks (after proper fasting for at least 10 hours). If it shows a reduction, you can continue with diet and exercise regime. However, if it shows an increase you may need to start on medications (eg fenofibrate group), but after consulting a physician. I would advise you to get your blood sugar level and thyroid profiles checked if not done earlier. Regards.
