Hi, The condoms offer protection from pregnancy in about 85% cases, on an average. With proper care, the protection can reach up to 90-95% (see the health tip on my profile page) on how to use condom correctly. Copper-T (IUD) is usually inserted at east 6 weeks after C-section. If the couple wishes to resume intercourse before that they need to adapt alternative contraception methods till the IUD is inserted. Some doctors are now inserting Copper-Ts (at the request of patients) at the time of the C-section itself and this is proving safe and effective too.
