3 month before my uric acid is 10 then as per doctor I started medicine eboxo40 for 2 months then it become 4.7 then stop medicine by endocrinologist doctor for 1 month now my uric acid is 8.1 why it is increased I am not taking alcohol and non veg. What is the reason and solutions.

Thank you for the query. Uric acid is produced in our body by the metabolism of protein (purine to be specific). Increased uric acid may occur either due to increased production or decreased excretion. You may be a poor excretor. Usually, if patient is asymptomatic (for eg. No history of joint pain/gout), medications are not given. The normal uric acid level for men is preferably between 3.5-7 mg% (it may vary between laboratories). I would suggest you to continue with your dietary protein and alcohol restriction. Some medications like low dose aspirin or diuretics (frusemide) can cause raised uric acid levels. Get some blood tests like total wbc count, serum urea and creatinine done. There are some other causes of increased uric acid levels but I think you needn't worry about it right now. However, if gout is precipitated, you will need to continue the medications - febuxostat or allopurinol, after consulting your physician. Regards.
