What is the reason for decreasing the FBS gradually ? I am 65 male. My FBS was 110 before last 6 months. Gradually it is decreasing to 100, 90, 80 and now reached 74. Why this happening ? What precaution I have to take. I am not taking any medicine for diabetic. Please advice.

The reduction in fbs could mean that your metabolism is faster & you are using up the calories at a faster rate. Go for a full body scan. Have more nutritious items like milk, ghee, dates etc in your diet. Have good wholesome foods.

lybrate-user, normal fbg is 70 to 110 mg. It need not be same every day. The day to day fasting level depends on your food intake. Variation in intake can cause some variation in the fbg levels. It has no significance. In a normal individual blood glucose level will rarely go very low so as to cause any hypoglycemic symptoms. Sometimes there is a possibility in a very rare situation where a insulin production is more than needed (insulinoma), then those persons do show very low blood glucose levels and hypoglycemic symptoms. Only when blood glucose level goes below 50 to 60 mg / 100 ml then there are such symptoms. Our liver detects low blood glucose (when <90 mg) and starts break down of glycogen to increase blood glucose in a normal person and even in a person with diabetes. I do not see any reason to worry. Thanks.
