I was in shok due to sudden death of my mother in law after successful double bypass within 15 days, Dr. said reason was may b thombroysis or heart fail, she never stood up on her feet after operation, I WS searching for reason of her death restlessly, she was recovering n sudden collapsed, thanx Dr. chetan.

Hi. Sad to hear about the incidence. Here I would like to say that bypass surgery is a very big and serious surgery. Yes, it is performed on many many patients everyday, and most of the patients recover from the surgery very well. But like any other major surgery, there is around 1% risk of serious outcomes of this surgery, like death or paralysis. To find out the exact cause of sudden demise when one is recovering well from the surgery is very difficult to comment. But the most common reasons are thromboembolism of lungs artery, serious cardiac rhythm abnormality (arrythmias), and unknown cause. Take care.
