What makes your nose bleed in the summer season?

Not all noses bleed in summer. In summer the high temperatures cause dilatation of nasal vessles (capillaries) which are weak at some point of their course and may easily rupture by slightest frictional trauma, or raised blood pressure or some inherent bleeding disorder. A check on bleeding and clotting time with platelet count is necessary to rule out such disorders. The pressure on nostrils for about 10 -12 minutes generally stops the bleeding. In some cases electro cautery of the bleeding point can be done by a qualified ent surgeon.
