Hi I have undergone ACL surgery for my right knee and the report is as below: Formal and tibial tunnels prepared. Cortex blow out noticed. Retunnelling done at 110 clock position. Can you please let me know if everything is fine. What is meant by cortex blow out.

Hello lybrate user, cortex blow out in acl reconstruction means a fracture occured either at the time of injury or during surgery while preparing the tunnel for insertion of the new graft material. Your report says that a tunnel was created properly after booting the cortex blow out, so you should not be having too many problems after the procedure if an adequate fixation of the graft was achieved. Hope this helps.
