Hi doctor my brother sliced his finger by a tuna can 2 days ago. The can was slightly dirty. He went to the er to clean the wound and he had 3 stitches in his thumb (which was bled so much) he was then given tetanus immunoglobulin. And was prescribed antibiotics (cefuroxime) for 5 days. Is this sufficient to prevent tetanus? I do not know his immunization history of tetanus.

Hello lybrate-user, if immunization history is not known then should get tetanus toxoid vaccine also.
