Hello, thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. There are multiple reasons for knee pain, it can be due to setting of early degeneration in joint, imbalance in muscle groups around the joint which can lead to softening of knee cap cartilage, besides other reasons. Please tell me duration of pain and what was the initiating factor for it? what medications you generally take and what has been your treatment history till now for existing problem. I would like to know whether you have got your inflammatory profile done till now and whether calcium and vitamin d testing/supplementation has been done. Also please let me know what all exercises you are doing on a daily basis. Your management will be based on intensive physical therapy of knee muscles, short course of anti inflammatory medications if you have pain, hot water fomentation at home 2-3 time a day, local analgesic spray for local application after fomentation, daily brisk walks for 2-3 km in a day in mornings etc. If you do not improve in 2-3 weeks time, we will get some basic investigations done and take your treatment from there on. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Thanks & regards Dr. Akshay kumar saxena consultant orthopaedics fortis hospital, new delhi.
