My wife is hepatitis b positive, found out last year when she got pregnant. Unknowingly had unprotected sex for several months (we were trying for a baby) did not get infected I have checked several time but it always came Hbsag negative and anti-hbs value is 98.37 mlu/ml. Can I get infected in the future? Should I get a booster vaccine since I have heard that the antihbs value should be grater than 100 mlu/ml. Please help.

1. Hepatitis b vaccine normally gives protection for 20 year. 2. Anti hbs level should ideally be more than 100 mlu/ml. 3. Even people having anti hbs level more than 10miu/ml are also considered safe and have very low chance of getting infection. 4. Your anti hbs level is good and you are safe, but since your wife is suffering from hepatitis b you may take one booster dose after consulting gastro enterologist/hepatologist and start anti viral drugs for your wife if required after consulting hepatologist.
