I am 23. For past two weeks i've been drinking dexorange syrup. And ever since i'm getting black stool. Now all of a sudden my tongue is black. Is it because of the iron syrup or something else?

Dear lybrate-user, generally iron supplements can cause black stools and also balck discolouration of the tongue. Although in my opinion there is no cause for concern and I can reassure you, it would be good to let your doctor who prescribed the medication know about it. Best wishes.

Dear user, stop dexorange and any other medication. Get a few blood tests such as cbc, lft, rft, stool examination and consult me online with the reports. We can reach a diagnosis and start appropiate treatment. Good luck.
