The HBsAg Ultra assay offers state-of-the-art sensitivity and excellent specificity for the detection of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) in human plasma or serum. HBsAg is the most important marker for the diagnosis of acute or chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. In blood banks, routine screening of donor blood for HBsAg is mandatory to avoid transmission of hepatitis B. This has dramatically reduced the risk of post transfusion hepatitis B infection.
