Is there any way with the help of which we can remove specs from our eyes and our eyes can get normal again. I have also heard of the news which says that Stem Cells in your eyes can RESTORE your vision, Said by the scientists from City-based L.V. Prasad Eye Institute in collaboration with U.S. Scientists who claimed to have discovered potent stem cells in the eye that possess the ability to restore lost eye sight (HYDERABAD). If you don't believe me then you can find this news in the HINDU NEWSPAPER dated 12th December 2014 (page no. 5). I am an IAS aspirant, that's why I know about this. PLEASE REPLY.

Hi , You have got the correct information, but this stem cell therapy is not required for those vision is correctable by spectacles; this kind is only a refractive error, which means a variation (not disease or defect) in the focusing mechanism of the eye which can be overcome by spectacles or contact lenses. On the other hand, stem cell treatment shall bring great hope to people whose retina is not properly developed or not at all developed or severely damaged, and is not amenable to existing medical or surgical therapies. The research is still in its infancy, but when it becomes available for the common man, it sure brings joy to several people who would need that treatment. Meanwhile, for those above 18 years of age, spectacle dependence can be eliminated by Laser vision correction methods (LASIK, LASEK, etc) or by Implantable lenses (inside the eyes, example ICL).
