Diabetes insipidus. Urine output per day near 3000 to 4000 ml. Water intake 3500 to 4000 ml. desmopressin is a great relief, now urine output normal but want to know is it for lifetime? I'm unmarried any affect for future?

Dear lybrate-user, it appears that you have central diabetes insipidus. I am sure they would have done an mri of the pituitary gland with contrast. Please let us know what it showed. If your treating physician told you what the cause for the diabetes insipidus is that information would also be helpful in deciding what to do further. Desmopressin is required lifelong in most patients with central diabetes insipidus. So long as the rest of the pituitary function is normal there is unlikely to be any problem about future marriage or pregnancy I do not think homeopathic medicines will help.

Usually life time disease. Have you checked fasting specific gravity in urineafter restrction of fluid for 12 hours in night contact me on line.
