Normally, at 8 years of age, the front teeth roots are still forming. What this means is that the type of treatment will largely depend on the state of the developing roots, assuming the tooth is still firmly in place. A permanent tooth which has been broken needs to be assessed to see if its still alive. This will involve tests and radiographs at subsequent visits. If its still alive, the roots may be encouraged to grow by a process called apexogenesis. If its dead, a process called apexification is carried out. The best outcome would be keeping the tooth alive, the second would be preserving a functional dead tooth. Whether or not it will grow and match the length of the other tooth will depend on the type of injury and a host of other factors. When the tooth is alive, this is not a problem. Treatment options will be like root canal treatment with an implant. Kindly visit a dentist for proper treatment. Follow up with the reports and prescriptions so that I can guide you for the best implant which stays long.
