My father has cough syncope. He faints after coughing for few seconds continuously. He has also got injured because of this. He used to smoke but has quit it 1 month back and he is also overweight but is working on reducing that too, he has lost more than 5 kg in the past month. What could be the treatment for this condition. We are really worried about this as he drives regularly and works in construction business. What doctor should we see in delhi for this condition. I can't find anything about this on the internet. Is there any treatment available for this and what doctor should we consult for this condition. Please help.

Cough syncope is because of stimulation of vagus nerves and aautonomous nerve system and does not have satisfactory medication. Proper awareness, controlled coughing and immidiate sitting or lying down are preventive measures. Improvement of general health, life style changes, detail check up for detecting life style diseases including cardiac, respiratory and dyslipedimia detection by consulting internal medicine physician is necessary. Obesity control programme may have to be drawn urgently. I have no knowledge of drs in delhi. Prefer reputed multispeciality hospital.
