I am 28 years old, 3 months pregnant, I am a sle patient too, I am confused about azathioprine tab (azron) whether to have it have or not during pregnancy, because my gynaecologist is saying no for it, but my rheumatology doctor is saying yes as it is not going to effect the baby. Can you please suggest what can I do. Its really confusing please help sir.

All medicines have side effects. We need to see whether the benefit is more than the risks. If the risk of having baby's problem (azathioprine can cause inadequate growth in the baby)is higher than risk of SLE, you should not take it. But if the disease remains under control with this medicines, then the benefit of this medicines (reducing the risk of severe disease in the mother and baby) is more than risk to the baby. In that case, you MUST Continue it.
