For the past two days I have developed a boil on my left thigh 7-8 inches above the knee. It is still not fully developed but the area red and swollen and warm to touch. I could see two folliculitis points with white pus points at the base of two hair follicles. Till now I have taken 3 cephalexin tabs of 500 mg each every 12 hours. As of now the swollen has subsided a bit but it is still reddish and there are still 2 pus points visible at the base of hair follicles. The pharmacist has advised me to take 10 capsules. Please advise. I am an open university student and do not want to miss my weekend classes so I am taking this medication as prophylaxis before it becomes a full blown case.
