In any blood test positive means the test is positive or the disease ispresent. If hsag is is positive it means, the person has hepatitis b infection and negative hbe means the disease is not active at present and he had an infection in the past hbsag is the hepatitis b surface antigen. Hbeag is the envelope antigen. Presence of surface antigen signifies the presence of intact virus in the circulation. Envelope antigen may or may not be produced by an intact virus.
