Hi doc. My fiancee is affected by bipoar. He is taking lithosun 300 and 400 mg as his tabs now. So if he stops taking his tab do thr is any chance of rebound. He is episodes free for 2 years .whether he can recover frm ths completely. Please tell me briefly doc. My engagementment is stopped because of ths problem.

Dear lybrate-user, If he stops lithosun, there are chances of your fiancee getting an episode of mood change. If it is manic episode, he may lose his name, fame and money. If it is depressive episode, he may lose his quality of life or even become suicidal. Episode free for 2 years, is not a criteria that he will not get another episode. It depends on how often he got his previous episodes, how long they lasted and how severe they were, etc. It is good that your engagement is postponed. You need to come to terms with his disorder and its treatment and take a valid decision about getting married to him for his strengths.
