Hi, Son aged 34 was regular drinker. After releasing negative consequences he has resolved to quit without any addiction treatment. Will he succeed. After 8 days of refrain he doesn't have symptoms of withdrawal. Weather he still requires treatment or he is faking the quitting.

Hello, it depends on how much alcohol he consumes daily and for how long he has been having this amount. There is definitely a possibility of not having a withdrawal if the person is not heavily dependent on alcohol. Addressing your second issue - with high motivation quitting is possible but usually people tend to restart. The overall psychiatric treatment for alcohol includes medicine as well as counseling to increase motivation to keep the person away from alcohol.
