Hello doctors:). My greatest strength is my elder brother. Recently he had some issues and got his lft done. It resulted in high levels of sgpt, sgot, ggpt, and higher amount of uric acid in his body. He normally drinks alcohol everyday (say around 180 ml. And usually works in the field which results to bad food habits. My concern is that what actually these high levels of lft mean. Are they treatable. Are they only because of alcohol or ill food habits. Kindly suggest any specific medication for the same. Thank you.

HI lybrate-user. The reports suggest altered liver function and being one of the vital organ any disturbances of its functions affect the health profoundly. And it should always be treated immediately with right medicines. And no specific medicines should be taken without full consideration of the case. Also Alcohol is the major cause. So it needs to be stopped. Or the treatment will hardly be of any help.
