Hi lybrate-user. Please consult a Speech therapist for detailed fluency evaluations. Usually Stammering is also accompanied with fear of talking or interacting to others in words. As a result, your speech has become very comfortable with families and close friends, but nervousness hits you as your interact with strangers or new people or even a group of people. Based on the fluency evaluations, the speech therapist can guide you to choose the kind of exercise and practices which suits your problem. The Speech therapist can help you to face interviews and group discussions with new people, phone conversations and other ways of interactions too. This will be taught to you within the speech therapy sessions and will also give you enough time to use the methods also. All the best!

You are having stage/social anxiety. When you go in front of people feel confident, before going to talk rehearse your talk in front of mirror or parents, friends. Once you are on the stage look at a face which is familiar to you but keep on moving your eyes from one familiar face to another. You can also speak while looking at some audience's shoulder but keep shifting your eyes, this will give the audience the impression that you are talking to them and you will also not be nervous.
