Hello Doc.
Please suggest me some home remedies as a cure for dry, dull and problematic skin in winters.
Thanks.
Hi lybrate-user. You have to follow some basic things so that you get better results in a short period of time. 1) drink only 100-150 ml of lukewarm water during meals, 2) don’t drink water before meal for one hour and one hour after meal, 3) avoid oily, spicy, junk, fermented and stale foods, 4) sleep upto 10.30 pm, 5) avoid coffee and tea, A) use evenshade cream of charak pharma, B) take 30 ml of AUDUMBARAVLEHA after meals, C) take 2-2 tablets of PANCHTIKTA-GHRUTA-GUGGULA VATI and MADHUMALINI VASANT RASA after meals, Do all things for 30 days. Gives you good result. THANKS.

Drinking at least between 10 and 14 - 8oz. Glasses of water every day is another great way to prevent hair loss. Water helps wash off toxins from your body. These toxins could be a major reason for hair loss. Drink distilled water or at least filtered water that does not contain chlorine, lead, etc. For healthy hair.

I am 29 years old and suffering from systemic lupus erythematosus (sle) since 15 years. As I have been based on steroids.

MD - Pathology
General Physician, Amritsar
Keep a close follow up with your treating doctor as long term steroids have side effects You can also discuss about certain other drugs like anti malarials and anti cancer drugs which can prevent relapse of SLE, if these can be used in your case. Then steroids can be restricted to acute phase

I have small black and red spots on whole body, that spots having very itching. Please help me.

Hi. It seems to be an allergy. So, take homoeopathic medicines- Rhus Tox. 200/ one dose once a week and Urtica Urens 200/ one dose daily for a month. Along with these homoeopathic medications, follow the management part as well: - Avoid direct contact with the detergent soap or powder - Keep your hands moisturised always, use aloe vera cream - Also apply sunscreen with SPF- 30 liberally means apply a thick layer of the sunscreen 20-30 minutes before going out in the sunlight on the exposed areas and repeat it's application again after 3-4hrs. - Don't use any harsh hand soap, use hand soap with aloe vera in it. - Apply mixture of glycerine mixed with sugar every night. - Keep yourself hydrated always, drink at least 12-15 glasses of water daily (and in case there is excessice exposure to sunlight, increase the intake). - Take food rich in Vitamin A, C, E and protein. (If there is no improvement even after taking these medicines, need to look into the matter).

Brow Lifts: Post-Surgical Care And Recovery!

MBBS, M.Ch - Plastic Surgery
Cosmetic/Plastic Surgeon, Ahmedabad
Brow Lifts: Post-Surgical Care And Recovery!

A brow lift is also known as a forehead lift, is a surgical cosmetic procedure that corrects flaws in the skin above the eyes. It flattens the lines and wrinkles on the skin, tightens the sagging skin that appears to advance in age and restores youthful skin. More and more people are undergoing the treatment every year with a high rate of success.

Features that can be corrected with brow lifts:

  1. Sagging and horizontal eyebrows that create an expression of exhaustion
  2. Deep horizontal folds on the forehead skin
  3. Excess fatty skin that droops over the eyelids
  4. Frown lines between the eyebrows

Types of brow lift and the respective procedures

  1. Traditional or coronal brow lift: The patient is put under general anesthesia and an incision is made on the forehead, just below the hairline to hide the scar. The excess skin is removed and the necessary skin tissues are lifted and tightened for a smooth appearance. Finally, the incision is stitched up.
  2. Endoscopic brow lift: This surgery is also done under general anesthesia, but a number of tiny incisions are made on the scalp. An endoscope is put in through the incisions so that the area of surgery is seen on a computer screen. Other surgical instruments are used to lift the skin tissue on the forehead, reposition the eyebrows and remove all the extra skin and muscle tissue. Then, the incisions are closed with stitches. Now-a-days endoscopic brow lift is undertaken requring specific instrument and training.
  3. Temporal incision brow lift: This procedure is done with eyelid surgery. It requires larger incisions than those of endoscopic brow lift and these cuts are made just above the temples. Then the tissues above the eyebrows are repositioned, extra tissues between the eyebrows are also removed to flatten the frown lines.

Post-surgical care and recovery

  1. You have to stop smoking and taking anti-inflammatory or blood thinning medication for a few weeks before and after the surgery.
  2. Using a cold compress is recommended in case of post-surgical pain. There may also be prescribed ointments that are applied at the cut.
  3. Your head needs to be kept elevated when lying down for a few days.
  4. You should have gauze and clean towels readily available in case of minor bleeding.
  5. You may also experience slight swelling and bruising on the non-operated areas of the face. The pain and itching sensations experienced during recovery are milder in case of traditional brow lift than in case of endoscopic brow lift.
