Tab levera (leveteracetum) is safest antiepileptic in pregnancy ,every antiepileptic drug has some degree of teratogenicity ,but leveras is the lowest and teratogenicity of valporate is highest.
Antiepileptics should be taken during pregnancy because epileptic attack during pregnancy is very harmful for the baby.

It totally depends on for how long you are on drugs. Whether you r having epilepsy episodes at present or when you had your last EEG done. Definitely without these and detailed history you should not advised to taper down your drugs but if you r having drugs side effects like weight gain or something else then you can switch over to other drugs.

Dear lybrate-user,
you can give your mom valparin alkalets 500 mg itself not only today, even hereafter. Probably she may need a little extra dose of valparin alkalets compared to valparin chrono. But that is not immediate. When you go back to cip next 3 months, please inform about change of medication. The psychiatrist there will adjust the dose, if needed.

Juvenile myoclonic epilepsy is a type of primary generalised epilepsy. It wil get good response with encorate. But there is chance to recur once you stop it. Usually encorate is the drug of choice. We usually switch to another one only if encorate is not tolerated. For more details ,you can consult me.
