This is a followup question for Dr. Anunai shrivastav who answered my question recently. He suggested to stop ramipril and take olmesartan 40 mg. Thanks for that. I will be obliged if he can tell me, if I can take telmisartan 40 mg which is consumed by my wife and is readily available with us. I can try that for a week if doctor has no reservations. Advice if amlodipine also can be continued with telmisartan. For olmesartan 40 mg ,i do not have prescription. I paste below my earlier question for reference as below:- I am diabetic on insugen 30/70 refill injection, glycomet gp2, ppg 0.3 mg and other drugs. I am also hypertensive on ramipril 5 mg and amlodipine 5 mg. My query is related to hypertension and not on diabetic problem. I am taking the above medicines for last 5 years on hypertension but my hypertension is more than 160/75. It shoots to 175 frequently. I began treadmill jogging exercise for 1 hour every day and then hypertension reduces to about 150/72. If I do not jog for 1 day, hypertension goes back to 160/170. I am consuming ramipril 5 mg + amlodipine 5 mg everyday, once before lunch. The hypertension is not at all reduced with these drugs but only by jogging. I am 60 years old and jogging for 1 hour is very strenuous, leading to knee pain frequently. Suggest replacement drugs for hypertension.

best medicine to control blood pressure is exercise as you realize. As of now your blood pressure menu is having space to either increase dose or add one more drug. Here I will suggest to add one more drug chlorthalidone 12.5 mg.

I am om Blood pressure medication from last 3 years, first I was prescribed olmesartan then olmesartan with amlodipine for sometime then olmesartan + amlo+hydrochlorothiazide mix, now I am on olmesartan + hydrochlorothiazide 20 mg, I feel little panic and anxious all the day, mu bp never be in control I never know what is the problem with me, my dialostic bp is always high, physical activity is nil, could someone help me with better medicine please present range of bp is 140/100 with olsar h 20.

As you said your physical activity is nil. Try to improve that first. Plus you need to control your stress and anxiety. Healthy diet low in salt, fat, simple carbohydrate and rich in fibres, vegetables along with daily exercise may help to control your bp.

Hi, My BP was 140/100. Doctor gave me amlodipine 5 mg which I took for 4 days and then due to side effects I changed doctor .then I took a single dose of olmesartan 20 mg and my BP is 117/80. I discontinued it. I am monitoring BP at home on omron. After 48 hrs it is still same. What should I do?

First medicine triolmesar is usual medicine. Your combination is required only if blood test creatinine is high.

I am 65 male my I was taking antihypertensive medicine telmisartan 40+ chlorthalidone 6.25 since 3 year but when my bp become uncontrolled and 180/100 doctor added amlodipine 5 mg to the above combination and after taking the same for 2 months my bp now 140/80 should I stop talking amlodipine 5 mg or reduce the dose to 2.5 also when I should take bp medicine presently I am taking at bed time. Please continue amlodipine same 5 mg dose as your bp is just controlled. People with diabetes need strict control of bp as high bp and diabetes both can cause proteinuria (protein leak in urine). Infact, get urine albumin/creatinine ratio to check for proteinuria. Reduce salt intake and watch your weight.
