A medicine cannot be avoided by starting another medicine and you have to gradually taper the dose spread alternate days and move on to one in two days and finally stop it.

I would not advice plain alprazolam (restyl), since it is habit forming if taken for a prolonged period. Please consult with a psychiatrist if you have any sleeping issues and those can be easily treated with other medicines which are given for a short course. There are also other medicines which can be used on sos basis for sleeping, if, yes, you can take it with a glass of milk.

Dear Lybrate user, please do not take much medicines for your health problem. Better to maintain daily life with some behavioural therapies and treatment procedures.
