lybrate-user ji, thanks for the query.
The treatment for hashimoto's thyroiditis (ht) is taking adequate amount of levothyroxine and maintaining tsh level with in normal range. Since your tsh 0,2 mu/l (normal range 0.5 to 4.5 or 5 mu/l). It appears that 100 mcg of levothyroxine is slightly higher than required. My suggestion is please check tsh after another 6 weeks. If then level goes still lower then dosage may have to be reduced by 12.5 mcg per day.
As regards high anti tpo antibodies...more

Usually thyroxine is life long medicine after diagnosis of underactive thyroid. Once you start thyroxine, we need to get tsh test after 6 weeks to see if this dose is correct or we need to increase or decrease the dose. Please do not stop medication without doctor s advise as hypothyroidism has lots of implications of body. Please book appt to discuss recent tsh result and medication dose.

Mr. Lybrate-user, hypothyroidism is diagnosed when tsh level is above 10 milli units/ml. Levels between 6 to 9.9 milli units of tsh are considered as subclinical and no treatment is advocated, unless t4 levels are low and some symptoms are also present. Dose of thyroxine in hypothyroidism is dependent on tsh level and body weight.
Unless the details like tsh and t4 levels are given no comments can be made.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
If yu are on treatment for hypothyroidism (100 mcg Thyroxine), then best way to judge whether treatment is adequate or not is to check TSH level, it should be maintained between 3 to 4 mU/L. With that most of the symptoms will be in check
So whether to reduce or change the dose can only be answered by looking at TSH level. As regards the other complaints those could be related to indigestion. Please increase the water intake and also do regular exe...more

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
Hypothyroidism is a hormone (thyroxine) deficiency disease. This hormone is required at every level in body metabolic activities, hence if our thyroid gland is not able to produce, then it has to be supplemented form outside on daily basis for lifetime. There is no cure in this condition. Some practitioner may be claiming that it can be cured, such claims are not true. Thanks.

Lybrate-user, your tsh level of 4.03 milli units/l is good, shows hypothyroidism is in good control. There is no need to reduce the dose, because on treatment to achieve good control tsh should be between 3 to 4 milli units. In addition continue to follow a proper restricted diet avoiding foods that affect thyroxine action ; like soy beans, soy containing products and cabbage, cauliflower, radish, broccoli, peanuts, mustard and coffee. Plus use whole grain flours for roti and chapati. Consume go...more

Lybrate-user, hypothyroidism is a condition occurring due to deficiency of hormone thyroxine produced by thyroid gland. Thyroxine is an essential hormone required for development and functioning of brain plus takes part in almost every single important metabolic reaction. Therefore, thyroxine has o be supplemented literally every day. Hence, treatment is for life time. Other than that there is no option. Unfortunately no substitute are available. So called cure claimed are really questionable. I...more

Mr Rajkishor, Treatment for hypothyroidism is for life time. This is a condition due to deficiency of thyroxine an important hormone secreted by thyroid. Therefore, there is a need for supplementation and that too for life time. Plus you have to keep checking TSH levels periodically to see if the dose of thyroxine is adequate or needs an increase.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
I am sure you are following the instructions on taking Thyroxine tablets, that is those should be taken on empty stomach early in the morning and nothing should be taken for 1 to 1 and half hour after that. Iron tablets should taken after a gap of at least 4 hours after thyroxine. You can take Albendazole preferably at night. Thanks.
