Hello, Thanks for the query.
I have gone through the details given. It is clear that at present the diabetes is totally uncontrolled. Because he is obese ((BMI 32.57 kgs/Sq meter), doctor must have concluded he has T2 DM. But it is better if you get C-peptide test plus GAD antibodies, to confirm whether there T1 DM. I have a few questions: 1) What is his routine diet? Follow diabetes diet which simply means eating the healthiest foods in moderate amounts and sticking to regular mealtimes. A diabetes diet is a healthy-eating plan that's naturally rich in nutrients and low in fat and calories. Key elements are fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

Hello, thanks for the query.
I have seen the details mentioned. As regards your blood glucose control, it is excellent. In such a situation I do not see the need for any additional medication like pioglitazone half tablet twice a day. As regards bp and changing to benidipine it may be in your doctors judgment that drug could be more suitable to you. I really have no say on that. However, I do not see any reason for adding pioglitazone with metformin when you have such a good control. Thanks.
