Hello,
if her bp is not controlled on belong which is a first like anti hypertensive agent, then she should be given another 1st line drug like telmisartan or thiazine. Adding a 2nd line agent like atenolol is not advisable for bp control until she is on optimum doses of 1st line medicines. For doses and choice of medicines, consult online with her bp readings.

It seems you think of bp as paramount determinant of health. Measuring bp is a new phenomenon, never previously done.
It can be helpful if done as advised, but it causes plenty of difficulties if done without following the recommended methods. Correct management requires measuring it once every month or 3 months when resting comfortably and feeling ok. Measuring bp whenever one wishes too is not healthy.
