Dear lybrate-user
Lower back pain is because of so many reasons Starting from simple postural problem to compression at nerve roots In your case, yes it could be due to disc prolapse But Every case needs a detailed understanding through sets of questions and evaluation through specific tests like X-rays, MRIs and others
However rest/ hot fomentation and few days of muscle relaxants usually works well The good news is - its always treatable if timely addressed Good luck.

A type of arthritis that occurs when flexible tissue at the ends of bones wears down.
The wearing down of the protective tissue at the ends of bones (cartilage) occurs gradually and worsens over time.
Joint pain in the hands, neck, lower back, knees or hips is the most common symptom.
Osteoarthritis treatment: homeopathy helps to slow down the process of joint pain (osteoarthritis) &
also gives a long term relief in pain without side effects.
