Madam I have seen the query. There is very little information to give any suggestion or comment. I need to know following: fasting, after food glucose, hba1c%, weight, height, dietary pattern, extent of daily exercise, bp, serum creatinine, urea and lipid profile. When one starts appropriate treatment, plus follows dietary restrictions and does regular exercise and controls weight, then blood glucose can be controlled well. It may take a few weeks. Dear, glimepiride is a sulfonylurea and the other drug is a combination of metformin and sitagliptin. The three drugs have different mode of aciton. Glimepiride and sitapliptin increases the secretion of insulin from the pancreas whereas metformin acts by increasing insulin sensitivity on the tissue sites as well as suppressing glucose generation by the liver. Till now, there is no known deleterious effect of long term intake of sitagliptin. Metformin has been used for decades by billions of people without any long term deleterious effects. These are the two medicines in your tablet.
