So long as you are comfortable, pl continue it. In case of any difficulty pl meet nearby doctor. However salmeterol and fluticasone act as long-acting bronchodilator. However common side effects of this drug may include nausea, vomiting, respiratory tract infection, headache, sore throat, cough, bone, muscle or joint pain, increased heart rate, chills, black or tarry stools, and noisy breathing. You should take fluticasone nasal spray and once get relief stop tablets. And always prefer spray over tablets.

Thanks for your query.
First be sure that your symptoms are not due to heart problem. If it is COPD in acute exacerbation not controlled on enough doses of bronchodilators, you may be needing a short course 7-10 days of oral steroid.
Get a arterial blood gas analysis done. If carbon dioxide is rising, you may require non invasive ventilation like tiotropium.
Once stable add inhaler tiotropium once daily to your medication.
