Asked for female, 31 years old from Pune

Hi, This is regarding my nephew (3 months), from last one month he is suffering from gases problem and from last 15 days continuous lose motion. We have consulted many doctors and they have prescribed Ecobion bc, Negox R, Zodust 10, Colimex septran etc. But none of them worked. Kindly suggest the possible solution for the same.

A lot depends on what you consider loose motion and what feeds the baby is on. If the baby is on breast milk, even 7-8 semi formed stools are not really diarrhoea. If the baby is not loosing any weight, passing urine normally, feeding normally, not vomiting, it is not diarrhoea. The point is if it is not really diarrhoea, why are we treating it all. In my opinion, all medicines except zinc should be stopped and the baby should continue vigorous breast feeding.

Hello doctor I am AYSWARYA first I would like to inform I have one kidney my urine culture report is gram stain: few gram negative bacilli seen. Colony count: 0.30 lakh/ml. Comment: probably significant growth. First level antibiotics is highly sensitive to Tobramycin, gentamycin, nitrofurantoin, ofloxacin trimethoprim, sulphafurazole, norfloxacin, lomefloxacin. And other antibiotics are highly sensitive.

My mother is 58 and she is diabetic from last 5 years. She is taking Tab Amaryl 1mG, voglitor (0.2mg 500). Recently after Dexa scan we found that her bones are getting weak and there is a high risk of fracture, she is on medicine like tab Dolo, Tab Uprise D3, Tab Calcimax, Tab Osteofos, Tab pregaba. She is also taking Cranpac-D for immunity. She is getting repeated UTI from last 4 months and each time same bacteria responsible for this is Escherichia coli. Doctor advised Septran DS after going through the Urine culture report. But the problem is the infection returns just in a week after discontinuation of Septran DS. What could be the root cause of the problem, please suggest a permanent solution to this problem.

The root cause if low immunity, which is the main reason for infection to return. Ask her to take tab. Chandraprabha vati (dhootpapeshwar company) 2 twice a day just before meals. These will also be beneficial in diabetes. If she takes regularly, she won't suffer from regular uti.

My wife is anemic with hemoglobin count 6.5. All the prescribed test have been conducted, nothing found abnormal. Her spleen was found enlarged with reticulocytes count 11.5% plus, endoscopy was carried out, found normal. Finally doctor has suggested ENA test and bone marrow test. Earlier she was taking septran and betnesol tabs for skin problem, now has left. Please suggest where is the problem and what to do?

dear Septran induced bone marrow supression is well known in medical literatures and my experience...for how long was she taking septran and betnesol...what is her liver function test report..proper history and detailed investigation reports are required...if bone marrow test not reveal anything then splenectomy /cutting spleen remains the only option...but before that full details required..kindly provide details ..your problem is manageable

It usually happens with mirena during initial 6 mth but usually menses stops at all after 6 months which resumes again when mirena is removed. So have patience or get it removed if it's very much troublesome.

My son, six years old, was hospitalized thrice when he was three years old with high fever - 105 F. Each time he was treated with antibiotics and discharged after about 10 days of hospitalisation. Third time it was diagnosed that he had bilateral urinary reflux (grade 4). He was on a maintenance dosage of trimethoprim. We performed reflux procedure at Coimbatore and he had no fever for about 1.5 years. Last December he had one more UTI and was treated with antibiotics at home. Nuclear scan done two years ago indicated his left kidney was scarred and shrunk. Functioning 33%. We repeated the scan last month and the functioning of left kidney has reduced to 27%. His vitals are normal (blood pressure, urea level, creatinine level) We are worried that his kidney may shrink further and lead to lower functioning and other complications. Is it possible to stop the shrinkage and strengthen the functioning? Is it possible that his kidney would grow in future?

Dear Doctor, The problem is with my 1-year-old Niece, currently in Dubai. She has been having repeated urinary infections and after further checkup, the doctor there determined that she had a blockage in the upper part one of her kidneys which was causing her repeated infections. The doctor there recommends she have that portion of her kidney removed. Until then she is put on daily dosage of septran- Paediatric Suspension (Trimethoprim-Sulfamethoxazole. I would like to get a second opinion on the same and would be glad to follow up on the same towards the second week of October when they are visiting India.
