All psychotropic medicines have side-effects: that is inescapable. But I suspect that you are depending entirely on medication when in reality you need to combine it with counseling or therapy. In therapy you will learn a lot of coping mechanisms and techniques to remain functional and lead a close-to-normal lif...more

Hello and welcome to Lybrate. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Sizodon 0.5 mg tablet belongs to the drug group known as atypical antipsychotic, used in the treatment of psychotic disorders. This medication can treat schizophrenia and manic depression, both symptoms of bipolar disorder. It is also used for treating irritability symptoms in children suffering from autism.
I suggest telephonic counseling for you.

Hi lybrate-user
I can imagine how distressing and difficult this may be for you and your family. It may be in your best interest to continue the medication prescribed by your doctor. Additionally, you could take him for therapy to a licensed therapist who has substantial experience with adolescents in your city. It may be helpful for him to address his thoughts and feelings in a safe space and learn to challenge dysfunctional thoughts that trigger his symptoms and work on healthier behaviour...more

I don't think sizodon has any impact on our immune system. There is some confusion about the medications by pediatrician. You could continue medications without doubt and there could be other reasons for kids i'll health which needs evaluation. I would suggest you to take a second opinion about fever and other health issues. If at all you have to discontinue sizodon. You can stop it gradually by making it 0.25 ml for a week or so and then stop.

Risperdal consta should be used during pregnancy only if the anticipated benefit outweighs the risk
the risks to your baby associated with taking lithium during pregnancy are: heart defects. Taking lithium in early pregnancy increases the risk that your baby's heart might not develop properly
so before planning pregnancy ask treating psychiatrist as he/she can change drugs if required.

It s not depression, seems drugs are for schizophrenia, a major psychiatric illness, which has long term treatment. There are newer medications for the negative symptoms you say. Kindly consult a psychiatrist for the same.
