Bipolar disorder is difficult to treat and requires skill. Treatment depends on the current phase (depression/mania/mixed). Improvement takes time as there are chances of the patient going into the opposite phase that he is in. Discuss the medication, maximum doses, alternative medication and their risks with your treating psychiatrist in a separate session.

You will need therapy along with the medication. Please consult a counsellor, who will work with you and help you in modifying your thoughts and behaviour, so that you will have more control over your reactions. All the best.

Hi Lybrate-user, first thing to stop smoking is to determine yourself to stop. Then slowly you should reduce the number of cigarettes per day and you can use chewable nicotine tablets. If nothing helpful, please meet any psychiatrist. All the best for quitting smoking.
