Mr. lybrate-user Kumar, Thanks for the query.
I get a feeling that I have answered the same earlier. Please understand problems with thyroid gland are related to either hormone (thyroxine) excess - hyperthyroidism & Graves disease or less thyroxine -Hypothyroidism. Since these are hormone related there is no complete cure. If hypothyroidism is there, then hormone needs to be supplemented daily for lifetime. If excess is there as in Grave's then one has to curb the gland activity with anti th...more

Lybrate-user ji, Thanks for the query.
Since you are antithyroid drug (Neomercazole, TSH should have gone up a bit more to wards 1.0 mU/L. It is good to know that the USG is normal. You will ave to continue the same treatment for at least 18 to 24 months. Periodically TSH has to be checked. If you have any troublesome symptoms those should be attended to. Tablet Thyrowel has really no role to play in this situation. Thanks.

From the present report it is clear that she has HYPOTHYROIDISM. I really do not understand how it changes from hyper to hypo. It is better if you mention her earlier reports when doctor had said about hyperthyroidism. Plus how long was the earlier drug Neo-mercazole was taken and when was it stopped? It will be really good if you come back with all the information in a private conversation, then I will be able to give specific guidelines and even prescrip...more

Hello, Thanks for the query.
I have seen the details given. However, there is no mention of actual TSH and T4 levels and even the dosage of Carbimazole. Based on whatever stated in the details, the reason for high TSH is excessive dosage of Carbimazole . Normal TSH expected to be maintained around 3 to 4 mU/L at which level most of the symptoms related to thyroid conditions are absent.
Another aspect which is very important point is in case of hyperthyroidism in quite a few patients ...more

You have to take carbimazole to control high t4 levels. You should go for radioactive iodine treatment to cure hyperthyroidism.
