Yes, there are some side effects of anti-Thyroid meds. Merely having T3, T4, TSH normal is not enough. I would recommend a more comprehensive and Integrative management. It is not necessary to take Neo Mercazoke, Betanol lifelong. But your Thyroid status will have to be monitored long term.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Your thyroid test results are in the normal range. There is no reason to take any treatment at present. You will have to monitor the levels once is six months to see if there is any major change. At present there is no problem at all. If you have any doubts please comeback. Thanks.

Your will need a dose adjustment of neomercazole along with appropriate supplementation with levothyroxine, depending on your symptoms. In your case I would check for appropriate thyroid antibodies to rule out "Graves disease" If this tests positive then I would recommend supplements that and control inflammation and modulate immunity. At some point of time you may have to consider Surgery or Radioactive ablation of thyroid.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. From the present report it is clear that she has HYPOTHYROIDISM. I really do not understand how it changes from hyper to hypo. It is better if you mention her earlier reports when doctor had said about hyperthyroidism. Plus how long was the earlier drug Neo-mercazole was taken and when was it stopped? It will be really good if you come back with all the information in a private conversation, then I will be able to give specific guidelines and even prescription if needed. Plus also inform her height and weight. Thanks.

Hello, Thanks for the query. Usually Neomercazole tablets are given for 12 to 18 months, to bring down the overactivity of thyroid gland. It is better if you continue for a few more months till TSH come up a bit more. Then you might discontinue the drug. But thyroid testing has to be done once in six months to see if there is no excess activity. Thanks.
