Lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
I have gone through the details given. With HbA1c% of 7.7, your diabetes is not very well controlled. Ideally considering your age, HbA1c% should be < 6.8. Plus looking at your height & weight, the BMI is 27.156 kgs/M2 (normal <23 kgs), which shows that you are overweight. This also contributes in not achieving desired control of blood glucose. Your ideal weight should be 77 kgs.
As regards higher level of SGPT, again due to being over weight leading t...more

The drug canagliflozin (invokana) acts on sgl2 receptors in the kidney and prevents reabsorption of glucose from kidney and reduces blood sugar. In this action there is no additional effect on other substances that are excreted by kidney. There is no excess loss of any otherelctrolyr by the action of canagliflozin.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
HbA1c% 8.3, is suggestive of improperly controlled diabetes. SInce you are already on Glycomet GP and Invokana (Canagliflozin 100 mg), one needs to give a closer look at your diet and exercisem plus height and weight. There is no info on height. My suggestion is to take relook at diet and exercise and plan weight reduction. Thanks.

Dapagliflozin increases and empagliflozin reduces adverse renal events in type 2 diabetes. Compared to placebo, dapagliflozin was found to increase the risk for adverse renal events, while empagliflozin reduced renal events compared with placebo, canagliflozin, and dapagliflozin.

Hello, thanks for the query.
The forxiga (dapagliflozin) belongs to a comparatively newer class of drugs called sglt - 2 inhibitors. There are other similar molecules like campagliflozin, canagliflozin. I am not sure if any othese drugs are being considered by the insurance companies. You may check the same. If none of those molecules are covered then doctor may look at dpp - iv inhibitors like saxagliptin, vildagliptin, linagliptin and tenelegliptin as alternative. Thanks.

1. Martifur Mr. 100 (nitrofurantoin) is a good antibiotic and no need to use levofloxacin. 2. Drink plenty of fluids and re evaluates blood sugars and glycemic control. 3. If he is on sglt2 inhibitor drugs (canagliflozin, dapagliflozin, and empagliflozin) for diabetes, it can cause recurrent uti. 4. If he has recurrent uti, get urine culture and sensitivity for definitive treatment.

Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. With h/o acute pancreatis there is no insulin secretion. Hence no oral medication can work. Because the oral drugs act either by stimulating beta cell to secrete insulin (by different methods) or by reducing insulin resistance. But because there is no insulin secretion at all so those drugs can not act. Hence, insulin injections is the only option. That to multiple doses may be required (long acting & rapid acting). The drugs like s...more

Sir. I am diabetic and 37 years old and overweight too. Earlier I was taking glycomet 1000 and vildagliptin 50 twice a day after food and udapa 10 mg once a day .invokana 100 1 hr before breakfast. But recent my doctor prescribed tenepride instead of vildagliptin and after having that for 2 weeks, I started gaming weight. used to have a lot of stress earlier due to work pressure and that resulted in weight gain (dr told. I used to crave for junk food like bun etc and also would snack on oily food every day. So as per the instruction of my endocrinologist I consulted a psychiatrist and he prescribed desevren tablet (earlier paxidep. Now changed) and risperidone. 50.actually Dr. told me to take motyvyst 300 and took it for 20 days. But I couldn't afford it. Also.weight wasn't reduced even after having that. But 5 years ago when I started having jardiance 25 .weight started reducing. My hbai1c is 8.4 .ppbs 210 and fasting (varies. All other tests r normal. Kidney. Liver etc. Is medi slim good option for wright reduction? I am 6 foot tall and 97 kg. But I don't look that fat. Is orlistat a good option? Reeshape or lipophage 60 mg for first 2 weeks and 120 mg for the remaining 2 weeks?

Hello, thanks for the query.
I have gone through the details given. However, I did not see any mention of important info like fasting & pp glucose and current hba1c%, dietary details, extent of daily physical exercise and bp as well as lipid profile.
Another aspect is that drugs like udupa (dapagliflozin), invokana (canagliflozin) tablet motyvyst 300 (canagliflozin 300 mg) & jardiance (empagliflozin) all these are similar drugs, known as sglt - 2 inhibitors, which act by excreting extra ...more
