First of all try and find the cause of low iron levels. Once treated your iron levels will rise. Apart from that include food which are rich in iron in your regular meals. Such foods include: dark green leafy vegetables, dates, jaggery, raisins, nuts, legumes, pulses, etc. Increase your intake of vitamin c rich foods such as berries, sweet lime, orange, etc. Vitamin c help is increasing absorption rate of iron in body.

Dear , thanks for the detailed description.
We would love to have the exact figures of your hb, mcv, mch, mchc, and your rdw. However from the data given we can safely assume that you have microscopic and hypochlorite anemia. Which has 3 principle causes
1. Iron deficiency.
2. Thalassemia
3. Sideronblastic anemia.
Please do a reticulocyte count and a peripheral blood smear also. Hes is a rare diagnosis.

As your MCV is low which means that average volume of RBC is less in your blood and Heamoglobin is normal which means that oxygen is properly transported from the RBC to body tissues and
As RBC is less hence we should rule out whether you are suffering from genetic disease of thalassemia but before that also get a cbc report done from a different lab and we can compare the two

Hello lybrate-user,
MCHC is nothing but the average concentration of hemoglobin in your red blood cells. Slight increase in MCHC is normal.
PVC is the percentage of red bloodcells in circulating blood. Slight increase in PVC can be neglected. ESR determines the infection or immune response of your body. Moderately elevated ESR occurs with inflammation but also with anemia, infection, pregnancy, and with aging.
So if your CBC values are slightly high_ there is nothing to worry about. ...more

ESR refers to Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate. ESR is used to check if you have any condition that causes inflammation. It is mainly used to find out the symptoms of an inflammatory disorder. The normal ESR range is 0–22mm/hr for men and 0–29mm/hr for women. Since your ESR mentioned here is 35. But it doesn't necessarily mean you have a medical condition that requires treatment.
