Earlier, I was having troubled left knee but now pain is there sometimes in right knee too. I considered it as joint pain alone. But when recently I met a physician and during conversation a query from physician about intake of medicines. I'm taking amlopres (b.p>p and lipicure (8) for cholesterol. Then, my physician asked me if i'm having muscular pain too. Yes, was my reply. He told me cholesterol's medicine has got side effects and it appears more to be related to side effects of lipicure. Mri was carried out and except minor abberations it was ok. These aberrations are age related. I'm 74 years of age now and bit obese. I weigh 80 kg. Kindly advice me about this trouble. I do wear knee cap and do regular exercise including walk. I avoid taking pain killer but in a moth I consume 4 tablets.

Hello, Mr. lybrate-user. Your father's age is 69 years so his sugar values are slightly on lower side. Chances of hypoglycemia are more with such strict control in this age. You have not mentioned when he is taking gluconorm and when he is taking eternex m. His medicines needs to be reduced.

Hello Thanks for the query.
I have seen the details given. The glucose values are absolutely fine. So there is no reason to change any treatment. Fasting glucose is quite low, any value lower than that can cause hypoglycemia. Otherwise present medication is quite good. Please check his serum creatinine and urea as well as microalbuminuria to know kidney function status. There is no mention f his weight and height, extent of exercise and dietary pattern. Those details are equally important. ...more
