Dear Zeeshan,
Nice to know that you feel better with lithium and lamotrigine.
Lithium is time tested effective tablet for bipolar disorder, especially for hypomania.
Constipation is NOT a side effect of lithium. On the other hand, lithium being a salt causes loose motions in few persons. Find other causes for constipation and settle them continuing lithium.
Hair fall is due to Depakote that you have taken before one month. NOT due to lithium. It will settle down by itself. Otherw...more

Dear Nusrat,
i can understand your concern. We, psychiatrists are also researching since many years to find out the exact cause and treat it. But we could find multiple causes rather than one particular reason. We are not giving medicines on trial basis. They are given after many years of research on neurotransmitters and trial on many animals and human volunteers. Only when the benefit is there, we prescribe for your husband. Lamotrigine, quetiapine, vitamin d and magnesium are known to mak...more

You must take some good vitamin supplements and eat five or six badaam soaked in milk overnight and drink that milk. Neurobion is a good vitamin supplement that you can take. Also avoid smoking and no alcohol as they degenerate the brain cells.

Developed signs of early morning wakening with a feeling of heavy heart in 2014. Ignored for a year or so. Then the problem started worsening with more heavy heart with loud pounding beats very early in the morning. Then I failed depressed or sad/ worried during day time also at times. Consulted a psychiatrist in 4/2014 who prescribed cipralex. After 4 months he added lamitor 100. Felt some improvement gor 3/4 months and stopped cipralex of my own. The state of depression recurred back and went on to lamitor 200 but no improvement. In november 2017 consulted another psychiatrist who changed the medicine and prescribed paroxetine12. 5, divalproex 250 and mirtazapine15. Felt improvement after few days. Stopped divalproex after 3 months. Then tapered paroxetine and finally stopped in april 2018. I was feeling good now. But unfortunately the condition hit back in early august this year. Now I have started paroxetine 12.5 with clonazepam .5 and continued mirtazapine15. Though I have again felt some relief but I always wake up with heavy heart and worried. During day time also I get sad or anxious at times. please suggest. Further I have elevated Triglyceride level about 500 which I heard is due to mirtazapine. Is there any alternative for that. I am also hypertensive taking amlodipine5 from last 6 years.

I don?t know when the last time you reviewed the medication with your doctor was. If it was a long time back, kindly go to the doctor and ask for a review, after describing the symptoms. Now I suspect that along with the medicine, you are not doing some therapy as well, am I right? In that case, it is very important for you to seek some counseling help for bipolar, and learn some skills and techniques to cope with life. Particularly, I would recommend some work on emotions. When you have done th...more

Stop drinking as it will mess up your life. Concentrate on your career. Once you are out of this alcohol dependence you will be able to think better. This addiction is not the solution. You are escaping from the reality by drinking. Other treatment you should continue.
