About Levolin Plus Syrup

Levolin Plus Syrup is generally used to treat productive cough and its associated medical conditions. It comes under the category of expectorants, which makes it a mucoactive agent.

The medication works by losing all the stuck mucus from the respiratory tracks like the nose, throat and windpipe and lungs. It also widens the windpipe making a better pathway for oxygen to enter the lungs. This helps the patient to cough out all the mucus out of the lungs.

The medications consist of side effects such as nausea, diarrhoea, stomach pain, vomiting, muscle cramp, headache, skin rash, and increased heart rate. Most of these side effects resolve within some time, however, if you experience any flare-up, consult your medical professional for a better alternative.

Take the medication as directed by your doctor as sudden withdrawal, overdose and interaction with other unknown medications, foods and other consumables can cause adverse effects to the patient.

Shake the bottle well before and use the measuring cup which is given with the syrup to take medication as per the prescription. Using a measuring cup to prevent overdose. Take it at a fixed time. Do not stop the medication until you finish the course or until you are instructed by the doctor. Otherwise, your illness might not be completely cured.

Levolin Plus Syrup inhibits the activation of guanylate cyclase which is nitric oxide-dependent. Secondly, it acts as a β2 andrenergic receptor that results in an increase of cyclic AMP. Increased AMP leads to activation of protein kinase A which again prevents phosphorylation of myosin. All this mechanism leads to the relaxation of smooth muscles. And lastly, it as an expectorant which reduces adhesiveness and surface tension of congealed mucous in the upper respiratory tract to increase the flow of mucous, stimulating and increasing efficiency of the cilia to remove the accumulated mucous.
