Myoclonic seizure is a short lived, shock like jerking or twitching of a single or a group of muscles. It is characterized by alternating contraction and relaxation of muscles.

Epilepsy can be fatal if untreated and he should take the medicines regular and ensure that he does not get fits. He should not go alone to places where danger is rampant like near a water pool or climb heights. His eeg need to be checked every 6 months or every year.

it is difficult to comment whether it was a myoclonic jerk or not but I feel that it was not a myoclonic jerk, it was a reflex movement on suddenly viewing your shadow. You continue on same medication and follow up.
